Unless you are extremely desperate, do not use StD Behavioral Health Service. Our experience was something we were very unhappy with. 90% of the staff was horrible. They show no respect to the patients and treat most as if in kindergarten. People coming to this type place are seeking help rather than being treated like cattle. It is sad that MS does not have a place, for people with depressive disorders, that could help treat them without the association of drug/alcohol abuse. Or, does not cost some unbelievable amount of money. Do not use StD BHS!!!!!

Took my mom to the Emergency Room at 1 pm on September 30, 2017. The ER was very clean and the staff was very professional. We would give the ER 4.5 stars. They noticed her breathing difficulties immediately as we entered the ER and we never had to sit in the waiting room. Once it was determined she needed to be admitted, she was admitted to the 5th floor and she was taken to a room around 6 pm. After being in that room for 30 minutes, we had yet to see anyone who worked on that wing, so I walked down to the nurses desk. There was one nurse behind the nurses desk and she snapped at me that they were about to start shift change and she would tell whomever was going to be our nurse to hurry down there as soon as possible. We sat there for over 2 1/2 hours before anyone working on that wing ever set foot in her room. The next morning, she seemed to be breathing a little better and needed somethings from home, I left at 1 pm to go home (about 20 minutes away) to gather our stuff for an in-patient stay. I made sure the nurses had my phone number and knew I was leaving for a few hours. I called my mom about 4 pm to let her know I was about to stop and get us something to eat and head that way. (The patient's food at this hospital is worse than most, which is sad because they have serve a nice lunch in their brand new cafeteria.) She told me something was wrong, she was feeling really bad, so I hurried. Before I could get there, her nurse called me and told me not to panic, but they had to admit her to ICU because she just needed more attention than they could give her on the floor. I found out 2 days later that they had not been watching the monitor from the nurses desk and her heart rate had gradually risen to 234 while I was gone and she nearly died. They had to shock her heart back into a "normal" beat. She stayed in ICU for 3 days, she is underweight, and there were times she woke up hungry and they had sent her meal back because she was asleep, and they couldn't get her anything to replace it except for some soup. She lost 5 pounds while we were there. I thank God for getting us out of that place alive!!

So, I have mixed emotions about this hospital. When I first took my mom to the ER with a headache we were sent from the MEA clinic in Richland to check for an aneurysm, the Dr. had called the ER before we left the clinic and we were told that they were expecting us, they checked her in took blood pressure that was through the roof and sent us to the waiting room for 9 hours! Finally after a Dr. saw us they gave her something for the pain and said that the CT was clear and they said she probably had some virus. The headache never went away and next Friday, but she was not making any sense and was not following instructions, I knew something was really wrong and that I needed an ambulance. Even getting to the ER at 4:00 am in an ambulance did nothing the paramedics where standing there next to me with her trowing up and taking in different languages and her blood pressure really high for about an hour an a half, finally they put her in a room in the ER and had to wait for about an hour more for some pain medicine. We did not see a Dr. during the whole day, and exam after exam they could not figure out what was happening. At night the finally sent her to a room only to see that her MRI showed bleeding in her brain, she had had a stroke. Finally they took her to the ICU, the nurses there were great (that is the only good thing I have to say about this hospital) they let me stay with her all the time because she did not speak English. I never saw the Neurologist and the Neurosurgeon had a God complex attitude and they never gave us a clear answer after 5 or 6 days there, a different doctor came in and he finally spoke to us clear and said that she was not coming back from this. Horrible situation, but I want to stress that the nurses at the ICU where professional, kind and wonderful at their jobs.

Upon my recent visit to St. Dominic Hospital, the staff appears to be unorganized, poor and very slow service. My father was brought into the emergency room, and they sent him to medical triage to record his vitals, ct scan, and lab was ordered, and then they brought him back to the waiting area, where we waited for approximately 2+ hours. My dad wasn't in intense pain and etc.... then 0400 AM in the morning; he was finally assigned a room. No results was shared from the testing that had been done.

Before this year is over with I want to say THANK YOU ST. DOMINIC HOSPITAL... Mrs Cleveland (cancer physician) you made my grandmother and I stress free. The ladies that took great care of my grandmother this month December2017 thank we were on the 5th floor out patient I think the room was 5134... Five stars is not enough I'll give those ladies 100!!!!
