We seriously have the most amazing assortment of really different and cool animals at the Jackson Zoo. My girlfriend and I can't get enough of the gibbons, I seriously wish I could take them both home with me. The orangutans and bears and so cute, giraffes are majestic (even when they pee) and the tigers have such an awesome presence. The hoofstock and various monkeys really never get old. They are also working on a long-term plan to upgrade the facilities and add more animals, which will be great. I really, really love the Jackson Zoo. I almost changed my major to biology on a whim because of it...

This zoo was a wonderful experience. I felt pretty uncomfortable turning off the interstate and driving through the absolute ghetto to get there, but once we got to the zoo itself I felt safe and welcomed. The personal were all warm and professional, from the gate attendants, to animal workers, to the maintenance staff. The animal exhibits seemed much closer than at other zoos, and very visitor friendly. I also found the place fairly well maintained and clean, even the restrooms. No complaints about this visit at all.

I have to say, avoid the food here, and usually the people at the front gate don't feel extremely friendly all of the time, but no one has ever been rude to me, and at the end of the day I'm there for the animals so I could care less about it. If you get a year-long membership you can go all you want! #lifegoal

Nice little zoo. A real hidden gem hidden in Jackson. Reasonably priced and the enclosures are nice. You can get reasonably close to the animals and take excellent pictures. I really liked this little zoo and I'm glad I visited.

I want say I don't like it. but not good scenery. Or appealing to children. No excitement. And most of all lack of animals. Or assistant. The few animal you did have could be in a petting zoo. And prices to high.

I was blown away by the access to the animals up close. As a photographer I particularly appreciated the glass viewing areas for many of the animals or the open "moated" enclosures. All the animals seemed healthy and well fed. It is an older zoo (opened 1919) and could use some cosmetic improvements, but after reading the complaints about closed exhibits, I was pleasantly surprised that nearly all the exhibits were open. It's not a big zoo but it's well worth the price of admission.
