Just to make it better...now I've seen my favorite band play here twice! The acoustics are amazing and there is absolutely not one single bad seat in the house. My most favorite Jackson venue and attraction!!!
After the renovation it is better than it used to be but still a bit of an eyesore on the outside. It is obviously not a modern theater but it lacks the old charm and looks more like a dated 70s building. The renovation did nothing to update the outdated areas like concessions and oddly there are no restrooms on what would be considered the main level.
Have seen Bob Dylan, Elton John and REM here, as well as the International Ballet Competition. Great Venue
As I grew up in the Jackson metro area it was a given that every year we would take a school field trip to see a play at Thalia Mara. Those are some of my most favorite memories from growing up. And now that I'm older - I've been able to take my children to see plays as well.
Good venue. Safety and security an issue due to location in Jackson.
