The steak and appetizers at this restaurant are honestly some of the best in Mississippi. They have a great atmosphere and the staff are top notch. I will say that the deserts could use some improvement. The best desert we ever had was their fried blueberry pie. That is almost never on the menu. Other deserts would be more like a 2 out of 5 stars.
Drive in? I think not. High end food in vintage/gas station/kinky surroundings. We are from Houston and new to Jackson; we are not used to restaurants closing at 2:00pm. We arrived at 1:15pm and received full gracious service. Wife and my salads were to perfection. Hers was with Shirley Tuna and mine. with shrimp. Nice selection of wine by the bottle and by the glass and beer. Free private parking.
The Veal and Crab cakes are marvelous. The only issue would be parking at peak dinner times. The Emersons and Effie have provided Excellent dining experiences consistently for years
Although it once might have been the way it was named, this is actually a cozy, upscale restaurant located in the hip "Fondren" district of Jackson.
Don't be fooled by the name, this classy place is ANYTHING BUT a drive-in!
My husband surprised me and took me here for our anniversary last night. The atmosphere was great (although, they could use some renovations in the dining room...there were some damaged places on the wall and the booth we sat in went really low, but eh...minor things on a grand scale) and the service was top notch. We enjoyed the soft shell crab as an appetizer...YUM! And he got the Redfish Anna and I, the Halibut. Both were superb and we didn't leave a morsel on our plates. It was our first time to dine here and it hopefully won't be our last. Would return and recommend to others for sure. The price was not overly expensive, in my opinion. The food is fresh and the fact they have a list of where the food comes from is refreshing and I will pay for fresh food (that is being cooked FOR me) any day! Thanks so much, Walker's, for helping us celebrate our 15th year married! Can't wait to come back!!!
It's a Zagat-reviewed facility. They have many familiar dishes and multiple daily specials. The wine list is good and they have a full bar. The food is top-notch and so are the prices, so expect to spend some money. If you limit yourselves on drinks and deserts, you should easily dine for $100/person for dinner. I usually do quite well for $75/person if we each have two drinks and split apps and desserts.
