Great oysters. No doubt. I liked that they didn't have fifty thousand different oyster options like other oyster bars that I've been to. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. Try it. However, the fried oysters were just not good. Too much breading. Not enough seasoning. And lackluster dipping sauce. Everything else was tasty.
Clean restaurant with a nice ambiance, a little bit noisy. Ordered a side of sweet potatoes for starters. The sweet potatoes were not true to taste based on the description but was not bad. I ordered the shrimp po boy sandwich with bay chips and my friend ordered the shrimp and lobster rolls. Firstly, my food was cold. I wasn't happy with my bay chips and my waiter was kind enough to replace them with fries but they were not fresh. My friends rolls were hot and she found them to be "good" and both rated them a 3/5. We wanted to try the snore chocolate cake but they were out. Overall, for the quality of the food it is overpriced. It's not a bad place for a social gathering. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Might go back to try other items on the menu that looked appealing based on description but not anytime soon.
Good...quality has diminished a little since the ownership / management change. But it’s still good. It was superb... now it’s just a good restaurant. They set a high standard and maybe it was too high to begin with or the new management just wants to shift the focus away from food to the beer selection. all in all..one of the better spots in Jacktown
Honestly, this place probably deserves 5 stars. Our server, Zach, definitely deserves 5 stars. And there is a good chance that I will go back someday and try more things on the menu and bump my rating up one star. But for now, here's my 4-start review:
I guess I'm just not into the "hip" yuppie hipster millennial restaurant Fondren fad. Outrageous prices (especially on the oysters) I mean it's just tasty ocean snot in a shell. Name it a fancy catchy type of oyster and you can increase your profit of one oyster by ??? I won't say the percentage. The owner might one day want to visit NOLA and actually taste real food. If your food is good you don't have to put lipstick on it to sell it. It's overpriced food. Good looking staff. Fancy bar. It wasn't even 1pm and they were out of the lunch special. 4 tables were full. Shape up or ship out.
Outstanding service and food. Had my first lunch there and the bacon wrapped meatloaf was fantastic. One of the best bloody mary's in Jackson. Can't wait to try the daily lunch special red beans and rice. Recommend.
